About this tour

This session walks Gdańsk's Main Town along the old Royal Way, from the Upland Gate to the Long Market and its Neptune's Fountain. The guide continues down Mariacka Street to the medieval crane on the Motława river, explaining how this port shaped the city's wealth. It follows the same route used by both merchants and kings.

The call opens with a sound check, then follows the Royal Way stop by stop toward the river, with time for questions about the guild houses and the crane. A short list of names and dates follows once the walk ends.

This suits anyone interested in Hanseatic trade history or Baltic architecture, whether visiting soon or not. It also suits returning visitors who want the Main Town explained in more depth.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
