Patershol's quiet restaurant streets
Highlights
- An old tanners' quarter, reinvented
- Restaurant fronts in centuries-old houses
- A quiet courtyard, found inside
- One district that avoided demolition
- Ghent's food streets, explained on camera
About this tour
This session covers Patershol, the old tanners' quarter now known for its small restaurants. You see the narrow streets and the restaurant fronts filling many of the old houses, then find a quieter courtyard inside the quarter. It traces how a working-class district became one of Ghent's more distinctive food areas.
We start with a sound check right at the entrance, since the streets can be busy in the evening. I move into the courtyard for the second stop and take your questions about the area's history as we go. A short list of what we covered follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone curious about how Ghent's food scene grew out of an older working district. It also works well as an early-evening session before dinner plans of your own.
Included
- Live video session with a local guide
- A close look at the dishes and where locals buy them
- A short list of places and dishes to try later

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
