Which Haarlem museum fits you, a planning call
Highlights
- A recommendation built around what you enjoy
- Two very different museums, compared plainly
- A shortlist, not a full description of both
- Practical prioritising with limited time
- Best booked before your visit begins
About this tour
This call helps you decide which of Haarlem's two main museums, a science-and-art foundation or a portrait museum in a former almshouse, actually fits your interests and your time. I ask about what you enjoy first rather than reciting both descriptions in full. You leave with a short, specific recommendation rather than a general overview.
We start with an open question about what you have enjoyed in museums before, then build a shortlist around that. The second half of the call is open for follow-up questions about either museum.
It suits anyone with limited time who wants to prioritise properly. It works especially well booked before your visit rather than once you have already arrived.

- A 45-minute call with a local guide
- Honest tips on where to eat, stay and what to skip

Itinerary
-
Hello, and what you want to know 5 min
The guide calls you and asks what you are after: planning Haarlem, recommendations, or just questions.
-
What you actually enjoy 15 min
I ask what you usually enjoy in a museum before suggesting whether the science-and-art foundation or the portrait museum suits your visit better.
-
A short shortlist 15 min
We narrow the options down to what genuinely fits your time and interests, including anything else worth fitting in nearby.
-
Your questions 7 min
Ask anything that is still on your mind, there is no fixed script.
-
A written note after the call 3 min
You get a short follow-up message with everything mentioned, so you do not have to remember it all.
Good to know
- A stable phone or internet connection, whichever the guide uses to reach you.
- No app to install. You answer when the guide calls, or join a video call if you would rather.
- Times are shown in Amsterdam time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The call is not recorded. Keep your own note of anything you want to remember, or wait for the follow-up message.
- Have your questions ready, though there is time to think of more as you go.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
