Two lakes at once from Harder Kulm
Highlights
- Two lakes seen from one platform
- Why the lakes differ in colour
- A funicular through steep forest
- The town's shape seen from above
- Interlaken's geography explained in one view
About this tour
This session climbs to Harder Kulm, the viewpoint where both of Interlaken's lakes appear at once from a single platform. You see Lake Thun and Lake Brienz on either side of the narrow plain the town sits on, and the funicular's steep descent back through the forest. Corinne explains why the two lakes differ so much in colour despite sitting only minutes apart.
She reaches the top platform first and gives the full panorama time to register before naming each landmark below. The descent moves faster, with shorter explanations timed to the funicular's own pace.
This suits anyone who wants the clearest possible sense of Interlaken's geography in one session. It works well early in a stay, before exploring either lake in more depth.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
