About this tour

This session follows the road and trail into the Juta valley, below the jagged Chaukhi peaks in the Kazbegi mountains. You ride along the dirt road up from the valley floor, then walk on foot towards the peaks through alpine meadows that fill with wildflowers in season. It ends in a Khevsur village, where stone houses are built for winters that cut the area off from the road.

The call opens with a sound check before the jeep sets off, then moves on foot once the road runs out, with time to take in the meadows and the mountains along the way. Questions come as the walk goes, and a short list of what was seen is sent afterwards.

This suits anyone drawn to mountains and villages far from the usual tourist routes rather than city streets. It also suits those who want to see rural highland Georgia without making the journey themselves.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Kazbegi before heading out.

  2. The road to Juta 21 min

The camera rides along with the jeep on the dirt road up to Juta, the guide narrating the valley as the road climbs higher into the mountains.

  3. Toward the Chaukhi peaks 21 min

On foot from Juta, the walk heads towards the jagged Chaukhi peaks, the guide pointing out the ridge lines and how far the trail goes before the rock gets too steep to continue.

  4. Alpine meadows 21 min

In July, the camera moves through alpine meadows filled with wildflowers, the colours changing with the altitude as the path climbs higher.

  5. A Khevsur village 21 min

Near a Khevsur village, the guide talks with someone about daily life at this altitude, the stone houses built for winters that cut the valley off from the road below.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Kazbegi: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Khinkali and Stepantsminda centre, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Tbilisi time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
