Auschwitz-Birkenau: a call on history and memory
Highlights
- Auschwitz-Birkenau's history, explained with care
- Maps and photographs, talked through
- Context for a respectful visit
- A factual, unhurried conversation
- Further reading, sent afterwards
About this tour
This call covers the history of Auschwitz-Birkenau through maps and photographs rather than a live video walk. I explain what happened at the site and how it is preserved today as a memorial and museum. By the end you have a clearer sense of the history and how to approach the subject.
We start with a short introduction, then I share images and answer questions as they come up, keeping the tone factual throughout. I am happy to go into as much or as little depth as you want, and I send a short list of further reading afterwards.
It suits anyone who wants historical context before visiting the memorial themselves. It also pairs well with a session on wartime Krakow for fuller context.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
