  • Eight centuries in a single building

About this tour

This session traces the Cloth Hall through eight centuries of use, from its original medieval trading function to the Renaissance facade added later and the gallery now housed in its attic. You see the exterior, the long central passage still lined with stalls, and the upper gallery from below. It is a close look at a building that has changed use and appearance more than once.

We begin outside with a short sound check, then move through the central passage and finish facing the attic gallery. I explain each phase of the building's history as we go, taking questions throughout. A written list of the building's changes follows afterwards.

It suits anyone interested in how a single building can serve different purposes across centuries. It also pairs well with the market square session for the fuller picture.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Krakow before heading out.

  2. Cloth Hall exterior 17 min

The camera opens on the Renaissance facade added centuries after the hall's original medieval construction, and I explain how the building was rebuilt more than once.

  3. Central trading hall 17 min

We move inside the long central passage, and you see stalls lining both sides where merchants have sold goods since the building first opened.

  4. Attic gallery view 17 min

From a spot facing the upper gallery, I explain the collection of Polish paintings that has been housed there since the nineteenth century.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Krakow: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Bigos and Kazimierz, worth a slower look.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
