About this tour
This session covers the walk from the Grote Markt to the Groot Begijnhof, taking in the Stadhuis facade, the length of Naamsestraat and the walled quiet of the beguinage. You see the town hall's carved statue niches up close before we move along Naamsestraat, where lecture halls still fill with students between classes. The walk ends inside the beguinage, where brick lanes and courtyard gardens replace the noise of the centre.
We start with a short sound check so the audio settles before the square gets busy. I move at a walking pace between the three stops and pause often for your questions about the buildings or the statues. Afterwards I send a short list of what we covered with a few extra details on the beguinage's history.
This suits anyone curious about Flemish university towns and the quieter side of Belgium beyond the coast cities. It works well for a first look at Leuven before a longer visit or simply as a stand-alone session.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 6 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Leuven before heading out.
-
Grote Markt 17 min
You start on the square outside the Stadhuis, and the camera pans along its carved niches while I point out which saints are missing their heads after centuries of weather.
-
Naamsestraat 17 min
We walk the long university street past lecture halls still in use, and you see students crossing between classes much as they have for centuries.
-
Groot Begijnhof 17 min
Inside the walled beguinage the streets turn to brick and quiet, and I show you the small doorway where the last resident lived until 1988.
-
Your questions 11 min
Time to ask anything about Leuven: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 5 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Stella Artois beer and Oude Markt, worth a slower look.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
