Leuven after dark: Oude Markt on camera
Highlights
- The Oude Markt terraces, lit up
- Student Leuven after sunset
- The old Artois brewhouse corner
- Faded lettering above a brewery door
- A city square built for evenings
About this tour
This session shows the Oude Markt as evening sets in, moving from the packed terraces to the quieter brewery corner nearby. You see the square change character as the lamps come on and the crowd from the university fills the tables. The walk finishes at the old brewhouse building tied to Leuven's brewing history.
We open with a quick sound check before stepping onto the square, since the background noise picks up fast after dark. I keep the two stops close together and leave plenty of time for questions about student life and the local beer scene. A short list of the buildings and their history follows by message.
It suits anyone curious about Belgian beer culture and student towns after sunset. It also works as a lighter, social add-on to a longer daytime session.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Leuven before heading out.
-
Oude Markt at dusk 21 min
The camera catches the square filling up as the terraces light their lamps, and I explain why locals call this stretch of cafes the longest bar in the world.
-
De Hoorn brewery corner 21 min
We pass the old brewhouse building where the Artois family once brewed, and I point out the faded lettering still visible above the door.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Leuven: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Belgian waffles and Vaartkom, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
