About this tour

This walk moves through Lyon's Confluence district, looking at contemporary apartment blocks, a modern footbridge and a distinctive building known locally as the Cube. You see how deliberately different each structure looks from the last, a planning choice explained stop by stop. Hugo, who focuses on the district's modern side, keeps commentary brief and lets the architecture do most of the talking.

The call opens with a sound check among the apartment blocks, then follows the footbridge toward the Cube. Hugo answers questions efficiently and without much extra padding, staying on schedule throughout. A short list of the stops follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone with a specific interest in contemporary architecture. It also suits viewers who want to see a side of Lyon rarely covered by more traditional tours.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lyon before heading out.

  2. Confluence apartment blocks 17 min

The camera takes in a row of contemporary apartment buildings, each with a different coloured cladding. I explain the planning decision behind giving every block its own distinct look.

  3. Passerelle footbridge 17 min

You see a pedestrian bridge connecting the district to the rest of the city, its cable design very different from Lyon's older stone bridges. I point out how the crossing changed how people actually use this part of town.

  4. Cube building exterior 17 min

The camera settles on a building known locally simply as the Cube, its perforated metal surface catching light differently through the day. I explain what the building actually holds, since its shape gives few clues.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Lyon: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Andouillette and Croix-Rousse, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
