About this tour

This session follows the Rhône from one of its older stone bridges to a calm stretch of riverside path further along. You see the contrast between older and newer crossings, and a wide, steady flow of water very different from the Saône nearby. Louis, who knows this stretch from years of running along it, explains what makes the two rivers behave so differently.

The call opens with a sound check at the bridge, then follows the riverside path at a steady pace. Louis keeps his explanations short and practical, giving full answers to questions even when he needs a moment to think them through. A short list of the stops follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone who enjoys a calm, riverside session over a busy old town walk. It also suits runners or cyclists curious about the route itself.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Lyon before heading out.

  2. Pont Wilson 21 min

The camera takes in one of the river's older bridges, its stone arches contrasting with newer crossings further along. I point out details that place its construction in a specific decade.

  3. Riverside path view 21 min

You see the Rhône's wide, calm stretch from a path along its bank, joggers and cyclists passing steadily. I explain why this stretch of river stays so much calmer than the Saône on the other side of the peninsula.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Lyon: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Praline tart and Vieux Lyon, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
