Across the bridge into Wyck, a live walk
Highlights
- Crossing the country's oldest bridge, live
- A district of antiques and small galleries
- How one river bank differs from the other
- A faster-paced walk than the old town
- The city's less obvious, livelier side
About this tour
This session crosses the river to a side of the city most short visits skip entirely, following the bridge into a district of antique shops, galleries and quiet canal streets. You see the contrast between the old town and its livelier, more independent neighbour up close. It is a shorter, faster-paced walk than my longer sessions.
I keep this one moving, since Wyck rewards seeing a stretch of it rather than stopping at any single shopfront for too long. I still take questions as they come, just at a slightly quicker pace than on the history-heavy sessions.
It suits viewers who have already seen the main square and want something less obvious. People who enjoy browsing shops and galleries tend to ask the most follow-up questions.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Maastricht before heading out.
-
Sint Servaasbrug Crossing 15 min
You cross the oldest bridge in the country with me, and I point out how the far bank looks completely different from the old town side before we even reach it.
-
Wyck Antique Street 15 min
The camera moves along a street of antique shops and small galleries, and I explain why this side of the river developed such a different character from the centre.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Maastricht: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kniepertjes and Jekerkwartier, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Amsterdam time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
