Mercado de Abastos, Galicia on one counter
Highlights
- Percebes landed that same morning
- A market that cooks what it sells
- Empanada gallega by the slice
- Cheese made just outside the city
- Santiago's market, stall by stall
About this tour
This session moves through the Mercado de Abastos, Santiago's granite market hall, from the seafood counters to the stalls selling empanada and Galician cheese. You see percebes and spider crab landed that same morning and the market's own cook-to-order counters at work. Noa explains the seasons behind what is on display.
The walk moves stall by stall at an unhurried pace, with Noa asking sellers to explain their own produce on camera wherever she can. She finishes at the bakery corner, having moved from sea to land across the session.
This suits anyone curious about Galician food culture beyond a restaurant table. It also works well for viewers planning their own visit who want to know what to look for.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
