About this tour

This session covers CityLife, the district built where Milan's old trade fair once stood. You see three towers, each designed by a different architect, then walk into the park laid out at their base, unusually free of traffic for the city centre. It is a short look at Milan's most recently built skyline.

We start with a sound check facing the towers, since the plaza can be windy. I move into the park for the second stop and take questions about the architects or the district's planning as we go. A short reading note follows by message afterwards.

It suits anyone with an interest in contemporary architecture or urban planning. It also works well paired with a session on the older Sforza Castle nearby.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Milan before heading out.

  2. CityLife towers 21 min

The camera takes in three towers, each by a different architect, and I explain how the district replaced Milan's old trade fair grounds.

  3. CityLife park paths 21 min

We walk into the park at their base, and I point out how the car-free layout differs from almost anywhere else in central Milan.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Milan: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Cotoletta alla milanese and Quadrilatero della Moda, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Rome time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
