Highlights

  • A district reshaped across periods
  • Functionalist style beside old Gothic streets
  • Prague's more modern architectural layer
  • Quiet streets off a famous square
  • Contrast as the point of the walk

About this tour

This session covers a quieter New Town street and an early 20th-century building, both away from Wenceslas Square's main crowds. You see how the district has changed use across different periods, then a building whose plain, functional style contrasts sharply with the old town. It is a look at Prague's more modern architectural layer.

I keep a relaxed pace throughout, since the walk is built around contrast rather than a single landmark. Questions come as we go, and I am happy to compare the building's style with the old town's again if it helps. A short note on the district's other functionalist buildings follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone who has already seen the square and wants its quieter side streets. It also suits viewers interested in 20th-century architecture.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Prague before heading out.

  2. A New Town side street 15 min

The camera moves along a quieter street off the square, and I explain how the New Town has changed use across different periods.

  3. A functionalist-era building 15 min

We stop at a building from the early 20th century, and I point out how its style differs sharply from the old town's Gothic and Baroque streets.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Prague: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Trdelník and Malá Strana, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • Times are shown in Prague time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
