MAMAC, the rooftop and the galleries outside

- Four marble towers over the old town

- Architecture explained before the art
About this tour
This session looks at MAMAC from the outside, its four marble towers and glass footbridges, and the rooftop terrace that doubles as an outdoor gallery. You see the striking modern design set directly beside the old town's rooftops and the view the terrace commands. It is a short, architecture-focused session about a building often visited only for what is inside.
We spend time at the exterior before moving up to the terrace, since the contrast between the modern building and the older city below is the point. I answer questions about the design or the collection as they come up. A short note on the current exhibitions follows the call.
This suits anyone interested in modern architecture as much as contemporary art. It also works well before or after visiting the galleries yourself.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Nice before heading out.
-
The marble towers 21 min
The camera looks up at the four marble towers connected by glass footbridges that make up the museum's exterior. I explain why this striking, modern design was chosen for a museum overlooking the old town.
-
The rooftop terrace 21 min
From the terrace, you get a wide view across the rooftops of Vieux Nice and out to the bay beyond. I point out how the terrace itself functions as an outdoor gallery space for larger pieces.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Nice: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Socca and Le Port, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
