About this tour
This session looks at Place Masséna, from its matching red ochre facades to the seven illuminated figures perched around its edges. You see the deliberate symmetry of the square's design and how the figures change character between day and night. It is a short session built around one very photographed square and its details.
We move slowly around the square's edges, pausing longest under the seated figures. Questions come in throughout, and I am happy to point the camera at any detail someone wants a longer look at. A short note on the square's history follows the call.
This suits anyone who wants a calm look at a landmark most people only pass through quickly. It also works well as a short add-on to a longer old town session.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Nice before heading out.
-
The red facades 15 min
The camera looks along the square's matching red ochre buildings, laid out in a single symmetrical design in the nineteenth century. I explain why this particular colour became so associated with the city centre.
-
The seated figures 15 min
You look up at the seven illuminated figures perched on poles around the square, each representing a different continent. I point out how their pose and lighting change after dark compared to daytime.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Nice: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Socca and Vieux Nice, worth a slower look.
Good to know

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
