About this tour

This evening session walks old Athens as the light drops, from Plaka's narrow lanes up to a view of the lit Acropolis and down into Monastiraki square. You see the neighbourhood directly below the Parthenon, the hill lit against the evening sky, and a square filling with people as the stalls close for the night. It is a short, atmospheric loop through the oldest streets in the city.

The call opens with a sound check, then walks through Plaka and down towards Monastiraki as evening sets in, with time to ask questions as the guide walks. A short list of what you saw is sent afterwards.

This suits anyone who wants a short, calm look at Athens at the end of the day rather than a long walk. It also suits those short on time who still want a live glimpse of the city.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Athens before heading out.

  2. Plaka at dusk 17 min

As the light drops, the camera walks through Plaka, the old neighbourhood directly below the Acropolis, its lanes narrowing as the evening crowd thins out.

  3. The Acropolis lit up 17 min

Looking up from the streets, the camera holds on the Acropolis lit against the evening sky, the guide pointing out the Parthenon's outline from below.

  4. Monastiraki square 17 min

The walk ends in Monastiraki, the guide pointing out stalls closing for the night and the square filling with people out for the evening.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Athens: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Ouzo and Plaka, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Athens time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
