About this tour

This session traces what is left of Moorish Palma, from the walls of the Almudaina Palace to a small surviving bathhouse a few streets away. You see where older stonework meets later additions and a horseshoe arch built into a much newer wall. Most of what remains is easy to miss unless someone points it out.

I move between the three stops at a walking pace, stopping longer wherever a detail needs explaining. Because so little survives above ground, a lot of the call is about reading the street plan itself rather than looking at a single building. I take questions throughout and often circle back to a point if something new comes up.

This suits anyone interested in the layers of history under a city that looks mostly Christian and Baroque on the surface. It also works well before visiting the cathedral, since it explains what the city looked like before it was built.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Palma de Mallorca before heading out.

  2. Almudaina Palace exterior 17 min

You see the fortress walls that began as the residence of the island's Moorish rulers before becoming a royal palace. I trace where the older stonework ends and the later Christian additions begin, visible if you know where to look.

  3. Carrer del Palau 17 min

The street curves the way old defensive walls used to, even though the walls themselves are long gone. I show you a doorway with a horseshoe arch built into a much later facade, a leftover nobody removed.

  4. Banys Àrabs courtyard 17 min

From the courtyard you can see the domed roof of one of the few Moorish bathhouses left on the island. I explain what the different chambers were originally used for and how the building survived when so much around it did not.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Palma de Mallorca: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pa amb oli and Old Town, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.

  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 7 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
