Es Baluard and the sea walls
Highlights
- Wide bay views from a bastion
- Old cannon positions along the wall
- Defences meeting the modern seafront
- A flat, shaded coastal route
- Sea on one side, rooftops on the other
About this tour
This session follows the old sea walls from the bastion at Es Baluard along the coast to the start of the modern seafront. You see wide bay views from the terrace, old cannon positions along the wall, and the point where historic defences meet the modern promenade. It is one of the best routes in the city for open water views.
We walk at a steady pace since the wall is flat and mostly shaded in the morning. I point things out on both sides, the sea on one and the old town rooftops on the other. Questions come naturally since the views tend to prompt them.
This suits anyone who wants sea views alongside a bit of military history rather than one or the other. It also works well as a cooler alternative to the old town streets in summer.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 6 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Palma de Mallorca before heading out.
-
Es Baluard terrace 17 min
From the terrace of the old bastion you get one of the widest views over the bay in the whole city. I point out the line where the Renaissance-era defensive wall meets the modern building built into it.
-
Sea wall walkway 17 min
We follow the wall as it runs along the coast, with the water directly below on one side. I show you the old cannon positions, still visible even though the guns themselves are long gone.
-
Passeig Marítim junction 17 min
The wall walk ends where the old defences meet the modern seafront promenade. I explain how this stretch of coast changed once the walls stopped being needed for defence and started framing views instead.
-
Your questions 11 min
Time to ask anything about Palma de Mallorca: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 5 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Sobrassada and Old Town, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
