The tower explained from across the river
Highlights
- The tower held in full from across the river
- Ironwork aligned to millimetre precision
- The view that became a postcard by 1889
- Two distances, one changing scale
- A first look before the rest of the city
About this tour
This session looks at the Eiffel Tower from two very different distances, starting on the Trocadéro esplanade across the river before crossing towards its base. Éric explains how the structure, built for the 1889 World's Fair, became the defining image of the city almost immediately. The two viewpoints together show how the tower's scale changes as you approach it.
Éric opens on the esplanade with a short sound check before crossing the bridge. He keeps a steady pace toward the tower's base, answering questions about the engineering as they arrive, and sends a short note on the best times for each view once the call ends.
It suits anyone who wants the classic view explained properly rather than just photographed. It also works well as a first orientation before exploring the rest of the city.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Paris before heading out.
-
Trocadéro 21 min
From the esplanade across the river, the camera holds the tower in full from base to tip, and Éric explains how this angle became the postcard view almost as soon as the tower opened in 1889.
-
Pont d'Iéna 21 min
Crossing the bridge toward the tower's feet, the camera looks straight up through the ironwork, and Éric points out the four pillars Gustave Eiffel had to align to millimetre precision.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Paris: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Soupe à l'oignon and Le Marais, worth a slower look.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
