About this tour

This session covers Cedofeita and the galleries of Rua Miguel Bombarda, from Juan Muñoz's laughing figures in the Cordoaria garden to the street's independent art spaces. The camera looks in on several gallery windows, passes the old haberdasheries of Rua de Cedofeita, and finishes at the Romanesque church and the Bombarda arcade courtyard. It follows Porto's contemporary art district rather than its historic centre.

The call opens with a sound check, then moves through the three stops in order, with the guide pointing out current shows and explaining the district's shift from shops to galleries. Questions are taken throughout, and a short list follows once the call ends.

This suits anyone interested in contemporary art and gallery districts, whether planning a visit to Porto or curious what the city's art scene looks like now.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Porto before heading out.

  2. Cordoaria garden 21 min

The camera moves among Juan Muñoz's thirteen bronze figures caught mid-laugh in the Cordoaria garden, and the guide explains the sculpture's place at the edge of the gallery district.

  3. Rua Miguel Bombarda 21 min

Along Rua Miguel Bombarda, the camera looks into the windows of several independent galleries, and the guide explains how six to eight of them keep changing shows along this one short street.

  4. Cedofeita's old shops and church 21 min

On Rua de Cedofeita, the camera passes old haberdasheries with their original signage, then reaches the Romanesque church of Cedofeita before finishing in the Bombarda arcade courtyard as evening sets in.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Porto: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Port wine and Ribeira, worth a slower look.

  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
