The castle's courtyards and the Old Royal Palace
Highlights
- Courtyards reshaped by different rulers
- A hall built for indoor jousting
- The castle's inner structure, explained
- Centuries of building side by side
- A quieter corner of a busy complex
About this tour
This session covers the castle's inner courtyards and the Old Royal Palace facade, away from the cathedral's crowds. You see how successive rulers reshaped the same spaces over centuries, then the palace itself and its unusual jousting hall. It is a structural look at how the castle actually grew.
I keep a steady pace between the two stops, since the layout rewards a proper explanation rather than a quick pass. Questions come as we go, and I am happy to explain a detail twice if the connection cuts out. A short note on the palace's opening hours follows by message afterwards.
This suits anyone who has already seen the cathedral and wants the fuller castle picture. It also works well paired with the Golden Lane session nearby.

Good to know

- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Prague time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
