Riga Cathedral's exterior and its quiet cloister
Highlights
- The largest medieval church in the Baltics
- Centuries of construction, read in the stonework
- A quiet cloister most visitors miss
- Architectural fragments, kept and explained
- A calmer side of a famous landmark
About this tour
This session takes in the exterior of the largest medieval church in the Baltic states and the quiet cloister courtyard beside it. You see how the building's style shifts across the centuries it took to complete, then a calmer courtyard holding architectural fragments from earlier structures. It is a short session pairing a famous facade with a corner most visitors miss.
I start with a sound check at the main facade, then move into the cloister for a quieter, slower look, taking questions throughout. A short note on the fragments in the courtyard follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone interested in medieval architecture or quieter corners of busy landmarks. It also pairs well with a St Peter's tower session.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
