About this tour

This short call describes the famous keyhole view on the Aventine Hill, a sight that only really works for one eye at a time and cannot be filmed properly through the gate. I describe exactly what lines up inside it and answer questions on the best time to come and see it directly. It works as a spoken guide to something a camera cannot capture.

We talk over Google Meet while I stand at the gate describing the view and the quiet piazza around it. I answer questions throughout and send a short note afterwards on timing and what else is nearby.

This suits anyone curious about the sight before making the trip themselves. It also pairs well with a walking session at Bocca della Verità nearby.

I describe what lines up through the keyhole, a view framing St Peter's dome across three separate territories, and answer questions on when to visit.

  • The call is not recorded. Keep your own note of anything you want to remember, or wait for the follow-up message.
  • Have your questions ready, though there is time to think of more as you go.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
