About this tour
This session moves through Rome's Jewish Ghetto, pairing its food with its history, from a kitchen frying carciofi alla giudia to a bakery running since 1815 and the Great Synagogue seen from across the street. You see fiori di zucca and baccalà come out of the oil, a ricotta and sour cherry tart on the counter, and hear the story behind the synagogue's dome. The walk covers a small, dense stretch of streets rather than the wider centre.
After the sound check, the guide moves kitchen to counter to street, pausing at each stop for your questions about the food or the history. A short list of what was shown is sent once the call finishes.
This suits anyone interested in Rome's Jewish community, past and present, alongside its cooking.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
