A call for first-time visitors to Rotterdam
Highlights
- Rotterdam explained before you arrive
- A city rebuilt after wartime destruction
- Modern architecture, explained plainly
- A local's read on the layout
- A written summary sent afterwards
About this tour
This call explains why Rotterdam looks the way it does before you arrive, since its modern skyline surprises visitors expecting a typical Dutch old town. You come away understanding the city's rebuilding and where its more unusual architecture fits in. It is entirely conversational, no walking involved.
We start with what you already expect from a Dutch city, then I explain how Rotterdam differs and why. I answer specific questions about neighbourhoods or which sessions might suit your time best. A short written summary follows the call.
It suits anyone who has never visited and wants context before booking anything else. It also works well as a first step before choosing between the video sessions on offer.
Included
- A 30-minute call with a local guide
- Honest tips on where to eat, stay and what to skip
- A short follow-up note with every place mentioned

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
