  • Rotterdam covered at bike pace

About this tour

This session rides from the Markthal past the Cube Houses to a wide harbour view of the modern skyline. You see how closely several of the city's most unusual buildings sit together, covered at a faster pace than walking allows. It ends looking out over the water rather than at a single landmark.

We move steadily by bike, narrating briefly between sights rather than stopping for long at each one. Questions get answered at the final stop, where the pace slows down again. A short map of the route follows by message.

It suits anyone who wants to cover more ground and see how the city's landmarks connect. It also works well as a wide-angle overview before booking a closer, single-landmark session.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

  • Internet connection
  • Travel to the city

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Rotterdam before heading out.

  2. Markthal exterior 21 min

The camera passes the Markthal's arched exterior, and I explain how its shape stands out from the older buildings surrounding it.

  3. Cube Houses en route 21 min

A few minutes further, you see the Cube Houses pass by, and I point out how close together the city's more unusual buildings actually sit.

  4. Harbour skyline view 21 min

We finish at a wide point along the water, and the camera takes in the modern skyline in one long shot, tying the ride together.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Rotterdam: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Kapsalon and Kop van Zuid, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Amsterdam time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
