Imerovigli's quiet caldera path
Highlights
- A quieter stretch of the caldera path
- Skaros Rock's abandoned fortress
- A fortress left to crumble into the sea
- Caldera views away from the busiest crowds
- Imerovigli's calmer side of the cliff
About this tour
This walk covers the quieter stretch of the caldera path through Imerovigli, between the busier towns of Fira and Oia. Eirini shows the clifftop path with far fewer people on it before pointing out Skaros Rock, the bare outcrop that once held a Venetian fortress. She explains why the fortress was abandoned centuries ago.
Eirini checks her connection at the start of the path before walking at an easy pace, noting how the crowds thin compared to other parts of the caldera walk. She answers questions about Skaros as she goes. A short list of what was seen follows the call.
This suits travellers who want caldera views without the busiest crowds. It also works well as a calmer alternative to the full Fira to Oia walk.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
