Pinturicchio's frescoes, one wall at a time
Highlights
- Two scenes, compared directly
- A single story across several walls
- Composition explained scene by scene
- Colour connecting separate frescoes
- Technique studied closely, not generally
About this tour
This session focuses specifically on Pinturicchio's technique across two fresco scenes in the Piccolomini Library. You see one narrative scene explained in detail, and a second scene compared directly for how colour and composition connect the walls. The camera stays close on paint throughout.
We compare the two scenes directly rather than treating them separately, since the connections between them are the actual point. I explain Pinturicchio's compositional choices as we go, and take questions throughout.
It suits anyone with a specific interest in Renaissance painting technique rather than general history. It also pairs well with the fuller library session.

Narrative scene 15 min
The camera studies one narrative scene closely, and I explain the specific life event it depicts and how Pinturicchio arranged the figures within it.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
