About this tour

This call helps plan a hike to Preikestolen, the flat-topped cliff above Lysefjord, since the walk itself runs longer than any paid session could properly cover live. Rune talks through the trail from the car park, the terrain along the way, and what the viewpoint itself looks like at the top. The call is built around your own fitness and the weather on the day you plan to go.

He starts by asking what kind of hiking you are used to, then talks through the trail stretch by stretch with realistic timings. He sends a short checklist of what to bring once the call ends.

This suits anyone planning the hike themselves who wants a clearer, honest sense of what it involves first. It also suits anyone deciding whether the hike suits their fitness before committing to a full day.

Itinerary

  1. Hello, and what you want to know 5 min

The guide calls you and asks what you are after: planning Stavanger, recommendations, or just questions.

  2. Planning the trail 15 min

I talk through the Preikestolen trail from the car park, the terrain, the climb, and roughly how long each stretch takes depending on fitness and weather.

  3. What to expect at the top 15 min

I describe the flat rock at the top and the drop beside it, and check what kind of pace and conditions you are comfortable with before sending a short checklist.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Ask anything that is still on your mind, there is no fixed script.

  5. A written note after the call 3 min

You get a short follow-up message with everything mentioned, so you do not have to remember it all.

  • The call is not recorded. Keep your own note of anything you want to remember, or wait for the follow-up message.
  • Have your questions ready, though there is time to think of more as you go.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
