  • A slipway marked to the ship's length
  • Scale that photographs rarely capture
  • Shipbuilding history from the exact ground
  • Belfast's defining industrial story

About this tour

This session looks at Titanic Belfast's striking facade before walking onto the preserved slipway where the ship was actually built. You see the building's angular silver panels, designed to echo a ship's hull, and the full marked-out length of the slipway itself. Aoife explains the genuine scale of what was built here, which photographs alone rarely convey.

After a short sound check at the facade, the session moves onto the slipway for a longer stretch of explanation, with time for questions throughout. Aoife answers as you go and sends a short note afterwards on details that don't make the main exhibition panels.

It suits anyone interested in Belfast's shipbuilding history and the scale of what was achieved here. It also works well before or instead of a ticketed museum visit.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Belfast before heading out.

  2. The museum's angular facade 21 min

The camera holds on Titanic Belfast's angular silver facade, designed to echo the hulls once built here. Aoife explains why the building's shape references the ships rather than any single one directly.

  3. The slipway itself 21 min

Walking onto the preserved slipway, the camera takes in its full length, marked out where the ship once stood. Aoife explains how enormous the vessel actually was compared to the ground it occupied.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Belfast: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Ulster fry and Cathedral Quarter, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in London time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
