Old Town Hall, up the tower
Highlights
- One of Europe's largest brick town halls
- A square built for a wealthy medieval town
- Rooftops seen from partway up the tower
- A street layout barely changed since medieval times
- Why Toruń could build on this scale
About this tour
This session covers Toruń's Old Town Hall, one of the largest brick town halls in Europe, from the square below to partway up its tower. You see the building's scale against the market square and the view over the old town's rooftops from higher up. It explains why medieval Toruń could build something this grand.
I start with a sound check in the square, then walk around the building's exterior before climbing partway up the tower for the view. Questions are welcome throughout, and I send a short note afterwards on the town hall's history.
This suits anyone interested in Gothic civic architecture or medieval town planning. It also works well as a central session before choosing which of the surrounding streets to explore.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide
- Questions to your guide all the way
- A short list of places to visit later
Not included
- Internet connection
- Travel to the city

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
