About this tour

This session walks the pink heart of Toulouse, from the grand scale of Place du Capitole to the quieter, older line of Rue Saint-Rome. You see the brick and stone the city is named for up close, and the details that get missed at street level. Along the way I point out where the medieval town met the eighteenth-century rebuild, and why the two still sit together so well.

We start with a short sound check and then I walk straight into the square with my phone held steady so you can see the full facade before we move. From there the route follows the old street network at a relaxed pace, and I stop wherever a question comes up. Afterwards I send you a short list of the buildings and details we covered.

This suits anyone curious about how a French city rebuilt itself around the same materials for three centuries. It works well as a first look at Toulouse before a longer visit, or simply for the pleasure of seeing the pink brick up close.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Toulouse before heading out.

  2. Place du Capitole 21 min

You see the vast square open in front of the eighteenth-century town hall, its facade built from pink brick and pale stone. I point out the zodiac medallion set into the paving and why locals avoid stepping on it.

  3. Rue Saint-Rome 21 min

The camera follows the narrow pedestrian street that traces the old Roman road through the centre, lined with shopfronts in shuttered brick buildings. I show you a courtyard doorway most people walk straight past and explain what the carved initials above it once meant.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Toulouse: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Cassoulet toulousain and Saint-Cyprien, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
