About this tour
This session covers the Upper Belvedere from outside, home to the world's largest collection of Klimt paintings. You see the long Baroque facade, the formal gardens connecting it to the Lower Belvedere and finally the sphinx-lined terrace. It is a session built around the palace's architecture and setting rather than the paintings inside.
I walk the gardens at an easy pace, explaining the collection's context and the palace's original purpose as we go. Questions come in on Klimt specifically, and I answer them in detail where my training allows. A short reading list follows for anyone wanting more on the collection.
This suits anyone with a genuine interest in Viennese Modernism and Klimt's work. It also works well as a first session before visiting the museum itself.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
