A painter's view of the panorama
Highlights
- How a flat canvas suggests depth
- Perspective tricks explained with sketches
- A painter's technical point of view
- Beyond simply describing the scene
- A short, focused painting technique call
About this tour
This short call looks at the Racławice Panorama from a painter's technical perspective. You see reproductions and sketches rather than the canvas itself, and I explain how the original painters managed perspective and light to make a flat surface feel like it curves around the room. It goes beyond simply describing the scene.
I start with a short introduction to panorama painting as a technique, then go through a few sketches explaining specific tricks the painters used. Questions are welcome throughout, and I send a short reading list afterwards.
This suits anyone with a specific interest in painting technique. It also pairs well with the panorama visit itself for the fuller picture.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
