Zurich's home mountain, top to ridge

- A ridge that empties out fast
- City below, forest above
About this tour
This session rides the train up Zurich's home mountain and follows the ridge at the top. You see the forest closing in within minutes of leaving the city, the viewing tower at the summit, and the quieter ridge path just beyond it. It moves from the city up through forest to open ridge.
I explain why this modest hill became the city's favourite view first, then let the ridge path's quiet stretch set a slower pace. Questions about the trails are welcome throughout.
This suits anyone who wants Zurich's best overall view along with a proper walk in the forest. It also suits anyone wanting to get away from the crowds quickly.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide
- Questions to your guide all the way
- A short list of places to visit later
Not included

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Zurich before heading out.
-
Uetliberg Train 21 min
The camera rides the train as buildings give way to forest within minutes, and I explain why this short climb made the hill the city's favourite viewpoint.
-
Summit Tower 21 min
At the top, a viewing tower looks out over the city and the lake beyond it, and I point out how modest the hill's actual height is compared with the view it gives.
-
Ridge Path 21 min
Along the ridge path, I show how quickly the crowds thin out once you move just a short distance from the summit itself.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Zurich: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Lindt chocolate and Altstadt, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.

- Times are shown in Zurich time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
