About this tour
This session climbs from the old town's Ottoman gate up to the fortress above it. You see the clock tower that still marks the entrance, the stepped stairways cutting between the coast road and the walls, and the terrace of Kanli Kula looking down over the rooftops. It follows the same route the old town's builders used to connect the shore to the hill.
I keep a steady pace on the climb since the stairways narrow in places, and I stop at each turn to answer questions about the different rulers who left something behind here. Near the top I slow right down so the terrace view comes through clearly on camera.
This suits anyone who wants the old town's layout explained properly rather than just glimpsed. It also suits anyone curious about how a fortress this size ended up hosting a theatre season every summer.

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Herceg Novi before heading out.
-
Sahat Kula (Clock Tower) 21 min
You see the Ottoman clock tower marking the gate into the old town, and I explain how the same bells have kept the same rhythm here for well over a century.
-
Stepenice Stairways 21 min
The camera climbs a narrow stone stairway threading between the coast road and the walls above, and I point out how many separate terraces the old town is actually built across.
-
Kanli Kula Terrace 21 min
From the terrace of an Ottoman fortress above the rooftops, you look straight down over the old town to the water, and I explain how the same walls now host an open-air theatre each summer.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Herceg Novi: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Njeguški pršut (smoked ham) and Stari Grad, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
