  • Where traders once rested before the bazaar
  • Ottoman Mostar beyond the famous bridge
  • A quieter side of the old riverside

About this tour

This session moves from one of Mostar's grandest mosques to the quiet riverside spot where traders once stopped before crossing into the bazaar. You see the mosque's carved stone entrance and its courtyard, then the site of a caravanserai that no longer stands but still shapes how this stretch of the river is used. It stays away from the main bridge throughout.

I spend real time on the stonework at the mosque, since the carving rewards a closer look than most visitors give it, then move at an easier pace along the river. Questions about either Ottoman building are welcome throughout.

This suits anyone who wants Mostar's Ottoman history explained beyond the one bridge everyone already knows. It also suits anyone curious about how trade actually moved through this city centuries ago.

Included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Mostar before heading out.

  2. Karađoz-beg Mosque Courtyard 21 min

You see the courtyard of a sixteenth-century mosque built by one of the city's most powerful Ottoman patrons, and I point out the carved stonework around the entrance that has survived several restorations.

  3. Tabhane Riverside 21 min

The camera reaches the riverside spot where an Ottoman-era caravanserai once stood, and I explain how merchants used to rest their goods there before crossing into the old bazaar.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Mostar: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Baklava and Old Town, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Sarajevo time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
