About this tour

This session covers Freedom Square and the stretch of Rustaveli Avenue below it, once the shops have closed and the street empties out. You see the column, the theatre facades and the old Parliament steps in the evening light. It traces one straight route rather than side streets.

We start at the square and move down the avenue at a steady pace, since the evening light changes quickly. I explain each building as we reach it and answer questions along the way.

It suits anyone who wants the capital's main boulevard explained properly, and travellers who prefer the avenue quiet rather than at midday.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

  • Internet connection
  • Travel to the city

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Tbilisi before heading out.

  2. Freedom Square's column 17 min

The camera turns up at the column in the centre of the square, and I explain what has stood on this spot at different points in the city's history.

  3. Rustaveli's theatre facades 17 min

I walk the camera past the Opera House and the Rustaveli Theatre, holding on each entrance long enough to show the detail on the stonework.

  4. The Parliament building steps 17 min

I stop at the wide steps of the old Parliament building and describe what the avenue looked like on the evenings it filled with crowds.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Tbilisi: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Khinkali and Vera, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Tbilisi time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
