Kuzguncuk's colourful houses
Highlights
- Wooden houses painted every colour
- A synagogue and church, side by side
- Original façades versus later rebuilds
- A quiet residential corner of the city
- Kuzguncuk's shared community history
About this tour
This session walks down Icadiye Street, the main lane through Kuzguncuk, past wooden houses painted in a run of different colours. You see a synagogue and a church standing close together on the same street, a detail that says as much about the neighbourhood as the architecture itself. Kaan explains which houses have kept their original façades and which have been rebuilt.
The call opens with a sound check at the top of the street, then follows it down toward the water. Kaan answers questions about specific houses and sends a short note afterwards on the neighbourhood's mixed history.
This suits anyone who wants a quieter, more residential side of Istanbul rather than its main monuments. It also pairs well with a wider Üsküdar session nearby.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
