Kaan Öztürk

I grew up in Üsküdar, on the Asian side, where the call to prayer from a dozen waterfront mosques used to wake me most mornings before I even owned a phone to film any of it. I trained as a guide once I realised how many visitors never cross the Bosphorus at all, missing half the city entirely. On camera I like holding the frame on Kuzguncuk's coloured houses for longer than feels necessary, since the detail is in the doorways rather than the street as a whole. My favourite session ends on Çamlıca Hill, looking back across the water at everything we started from that morning.
