About this tour

This session walks through the shaded woods leading up toward the Alhambra, from the elm-lined path to a gap in the canopy opening onto a view over the city. You see how the woods were deliberately planted and later replanted to shade this climb. The route stays cool and calm, built for a slower midday pace.

We begin under the elms with a quick check of the dappled light, then move toward the canopy break, pausing there to take in the view. I answer questions about the woods' history as we go and send a short note on the replanting afterward.

This suits anyone wanting a calmer, shaded session in the warmer months, and travellers who enjoy nature alongside history. It works well at midday, when the shade matters most.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Granada before heading out.

  2. The elm-lined path 15 min

The camera moves along a shaded path lined with elms planted in the 19th century, and I point out how the trees were chosen specifically to shade visitors walking up in summer heat.

  3. A break in the canopy 15 min

You see a gap in the trees opening onto a view back over the city, and I explain how these breaks were kept deliberately when the woods were replanted after storm damage decades ago.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Granada: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Tapas served free with drinks and Sacromonte, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
