  • Cagliari's history walked gate to gate
  • A quiet side of a lively old town

About this tour

This session walks through Castello, Cagliari's hilltop old town, still largely enclosed by medieval walls built under Pisan and later Aragonese rule. You see one of the surviving gates, the tower guarding this corner of the walls, and a quiet lane deep inside the district. The route stays on public streets throughout.

I walk at a steady pace, pointing out where the walls and towers survive best, and take questions as we go. I send a short map of the old town's layout afterwards.

It suits anyone who wants a solid introduction to Cagliari's old town before exploring further. It also pairs well with a Bastione di Saint Remy session at the district's edge.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

  • Internet connection

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 6 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Cagliari before heading out.

  2. The old town gate 17 min

The camera passes through one of the surviving gates into Castello, and I explain how the whole district sat enclosed by walls built under Pisan and later Aragonese rule.

  3. Torre di San Pancrazio 17 min

Looking up at the tower guarding this corner of the walls, I point out the matching tower on the opposite side of the district, built to the same design.

  4. A quiet lane inside the walls 17 min

Walking a quieter lane inside Castello, you see how narrow the original streets stayed even as the buildings around them changed over the centuries.

  5. Your questions 11 min

Time to ask anything about Cagliari: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 5 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Culurgiones and Castello, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Rome time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
