Scheveningen pier and the North Sea

- A Ferris wheel above the coast
- The Kurhaus's domed concert hall
- Wind, gulls and an open horizon
About this tour
This session covers the beach, the pier and the Kurhaus in one stretch of the Scheveningen seafront. You see the sand run for kilometres in both directions, walk out over the water on the pier, and finish looking up at the domed hall of a 19th-century hotel. It is a windswept, open-air counterpart to the political centre a tram ride away.
We check the connection on the open beach first, since the sea wind can be loud, then move stop by stop toward the pier and the Kurhaus. Questions come in as we walk rather than at the end, and I answer what I can hear over the wind. A short written recap follows afterwards for anything the sound cut out.
It suits anyone who wants sea air and open horizons after a morning of narrower streets. It also works well paired with an earlier Binnenhof session for contrast.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of The Hague before heading out.
-
Scheveningen beach 21 min
We start on the wide sand, and the camera pans along a beach that runs for several kilometres, with the wind usually loud enough that I explain why locals still swim here even in a mild autumn.
-
Scheveningen Pier 21 min
Out on the pier, you see the Ferris wheel ahead and the coastline curving back toward the city, and I explain how the structure has been rebuilt more than once after storms and fire.
-
Kurhaus 21 min
We finish outside the Kurhaus, and I point the camera up at its domed hall, a grand 19th-century hotel that still hosts concerts under that same dome.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about The Hague: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Bitterballen and Statenkwartier, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Amsterdam time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
