Vallone dei Mulini, the ravine behind the square
Highlights
- Old mill ruins sealed below street level
- A ravine steps from the busiest square
- Plants overtaking abandoned stone walls
- A valley the town built up and around
- A quiet detail beside a famous square
About this tour
This session looks down into the Vallone dei Mulini, the ravine of old mill ruins that sits just behind Piazza Tasso. You see the abandoned structures overtaken by plants and hear how the valley came to be sealed off as the town built up and around it. It is a quiet, overlooked corner just steps from the busiest square in Sorrento.
I stay at the railing above the ravine and hold the phone steady on the ruins below, explaining the history as we go. I answer questions throughout and send a short note afterwards with more on the mills themselves.
This suits anyone who likes an unexpected detail alongside the main sights. It also pairs well with a session on Piazza Tasso right next door.

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Fresh local seafood and Marina Piccola, worth a slower look.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
