The Roman Theatre, rediscovered across the river
Highlights
- A theatre buried, then rediscovered
- Nearly two thousand years old
- Still staging performances each summer
- Roman Verona, across the river
- A quieter Roman site, well preserved
About this tour
This session covers the Roman Theatre across the river in Veronetta, a first-century structure rediscovered only in the nineteenth century. You see the stone tiers built into the hillside, then move to the riverbank to look at the site as a whole and hear how it still hosts summer performances today. It is a quieter Roman session away from the busier Arena.
We start with a sound check facing the theatre, since the riverbank can be breezy. I move along the bank for the second stop and take your questions about the excavation or the summer season as we go. A short reading note follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone with an interest in archaeology or Roman theatre design. It also works well paired with a session at the Arena on the opposite bank.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
