About this tour

This session covers the Quinconces, one of the largest city squares in Europe, built where a fortress once stood. You see the Monument aux Girondins up close before the light fades, then the long open stretch of the esplanade toward the Garonne. The camera moves slowly across both so the scale of the space comes through on a small screen.

We start with a quick sound check, then walk the fountain first while the crowds are still thin, and take live questions as we move toward the river end of the square. I send a short list of the names and dates mentioned once the call ends.

This suits anyone who likes wide open spaces and a bit of history without a rushed pace. It also works well for anyone planning a first evening in the city, since the square sits close to the centre.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Bordeaux before heading out.

  2. Monument aux Girondins 21 min

The camera circles the fountain slowly so you see the bronze horses rearing out of the water on one side and the column rising above them on the other, both catching the low sun.

  3. Esplanade toward the river 21 min

You look down the long open square toward the Garonne as the stone starts to turn gold, and I point out how the plane trees are trimmed to keep the view of the water open.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Bordeaux: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Foie gras and Saint-Pierre, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
