The Alcázar, from its courtyards and gates
Highlights
- Four building periods, one palace
- A lion-tiled entrance gate
- The Giralda framed by a square
- Older fortifications showing through
- Gardens glimpsed over a wall
About this tour
This session covers the Real Alcázar from its public gates and surrounding squares, tracing how a fortress that began under Almohad rule grew through Mudéjar, Gothic and Renaissance additions on the same walls. You see the lion-tiled entrance and the framed view of the Giralda from Patio de Banderas. The deeper halls stay ticketed, so the session explains what they hold from just outside.
We begin at the entrance gate with a short check of the crowd and light, then move around the perimeter to the two remaining stops, pausing longest at Patio de Banderas for the view. I answer questions about the different building phases in detail, since that tends to draw the most interest.
This suits history-minded travellers who want the Alcázar explained before or instead of a ticketed visit. It also works as a companion session to a longer cathedral call.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 6 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Seville before heading out.
-
Puerta del León 17 min
The camera settles on the lion-tiled gate that forms the public entrance, and I explain how the palace grew across Almohad, Mudéjar, Gothic and Renaissance periods on the same site.
-
Patio de Banderas, from outside 17 min
You see the Patio de Banderas, a public square giving a framed view of the Giralda beside the palace walls, and I point out where the older Almohad fortifications still show through.
-
The garden walls 17 min
From a public path along the perimeter, I show the tops of the Alcázar's gardens rising over the wall and describe what is planted inside, from the courtyard side ticket holders would reach.
-
Your questions 11 min
Time to ask anything about Seville: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 5 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Gazpacho and Barrio Santa Cruz, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
