About this tour
This session traces Vauban's fortifications around Lille, from the star-shaped citadel he designed in the 1670s to the triumphal arch built soon after to celebrate Louis XIV. Camille finishes in the park laid out over what was once the fortress's moat. The walk shows how military engineering shaped the edge of the city long after any siege ever came.
Camille opens outside the citadel's walls with a short sound check. She walks at a steady pace between the three stops, answering questions about Vauban's design as they arrive, and sends a short summary once the call ends.
It suits anyone interested in military history or seventeenth-century engineering. It also works well for viewers planning to walk the park themselves afterwards.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
